so, I am looking into a laptop computer right now...and before one of my parents freaks out let me explain my complex situation. Spring quarter I will be going to bodega bay for the whole quarter. This includes staying there during the week in the dorms that they have set up. I will most likely have to get a separate loan to pay for this (I am pretty sure that the school has a separate loan type application for this). So I will be getting room and board over at bodega, but during the weekends I will be returning to my apartment so that I can take care of my fish. This brings to mind only one true complication...my computer. I don't want to lug my big, heavy ass computer to and from bodega every weekend for 10 to 12 weeks so I think a laptop would be the best option. I have heard from a reliable source that the best laptops around are either Macs or IBM's...and I would not touch a Mac with a ten foot pole (I would however touch it with a baseball bat as I was ruthlessly smacking it into oblivion)...so this leaves IBM. I figure my basic requirements for a laptop would be:

processor: at least 1 ghz
ram: at least 256 mhz
hard drive: at least 30 ghz
other drives: dvd-rom
misc items: usb port, 15 inch monitor
weight and size: doesn't really matter to me

I figured it would be better for me to type a blog about this instead of talking it over with my parents on the phone so that they can get the gist of everything before we talk. This makes life a bit easier on me since I only have to explain things here, instead of twice on the phone. Also, to make life a lot easier on my parents (money-wise), this can be my graduation gift. We still have another quarter (10 weeks) to figure this out, not to mention the 5 weeks left of this quarter, so there is no rush. I am going to be figuring out what exactly is going on with the bodega stay within the next couple weeks as I find time. I am very busy right now and I am feeling kind of overwhlemed and stressed, so please bear with me. If it turns out that there are computers supplied to us at bodega then this point it mute and no further worries need be put forth. Okay, now would be the time for my parents to pick up the phone and angrily dial my number. Leights.

So this week has pretty muched sucked. I am not really in the mood for typing and what not so I am just going to give you a quick run down:

I got my credit card bill with a mysterious charge on it for $500. It came from Korea...more specifically Seoul. My credit card company has taken care of it though. I dont understand how some one could have gotten that information. I shred all the important stuff before I throw it out...iono

I went to get my horn removed only to find out that it was not a removal, but a consoltation I made an appointment for. That was the biggest waste of time ever. It was a bitch getting there, a bitch parking, and a bitch leaving the place. Then to top it all off I have to do it 2 more times. Once to get the horn removed, then once more to get the stitches taken out.

Finally I have come down with a cold or some crap. My nose is stuffy...then runny...then stuffy again...I have a constant sore throat and all my muslces are sore. I have not been coughing too much, but when I have it has been a dry cough...so I hope it is not the flu or else I am screwed since I have the bulk of my midterms next week and I need to be in tip top shape.

I guess thats all for now, I am going to rest...leights.

I am so freaken tired. Working two jobs and going to school full time can be a bit draining. I guess I am working about 20 hrs a week total...and then taking 16 units...

The class that is taught by dr wainwright is not as fun as I was hoping it would be...in fact it's a lot more work than I thought it would be. I was going into the class thinking it was going to be fun, then after the first week I wanted to drop it, but since I know dr. wainwright I am affraid to, I could take it pass/no pass, but once again he might frown on that. So I have been going kinda half assed into all the quizzes (we have one every lab...which is twice a week) I got a 3 and a 3.5 on the first two (they are out of 5) which is not great, but it is not that bad...then I got a 1.5/5...I figure that this low quiz score would be frowned on too, so I kinda kicked it up a notch and got a 4.5 with 3 points extra credit...we get to drop the lowest score, so I am not too worried. oh, on one of the quizzes I wrote "bass" for an answer because I did not want to write out "large mouth bass" and the TA told me that next time I dont elaborate on something like this that he would dock me points since I am in dr. wainwrights lab. I did know it was a large mouth bass, I just didnt think it would be that big a deal though... geez. Oh well, I guess its a complement that he holds me to a higher standard, but I dont think he should grade me on a higher standard....

also it appears that I will not be getting the $300 that the school took from me during the summer, I have to wait until I graduate. I was told though that I would get it back when I become a full time student...so I guess I will have to call up these people and complain and see if I can get my monies back earlier than graduation. Okay, its homework time, I better get cracken...leights.

okay, so I havent had a good size post in a long while so I guess what better time to post when I have to type a small paper. So here goes:

Friday (Oct. 8th) was a pretty hectic day. I went to class then had to take off to speak with Dr. Wainwright, and it appears he is going to be giving me more hours and more stuff to do. After I talked with him I had to bike to a pet store in downtown to pick up the worms for the fish in Dr. Wainwrights lab, but the place was not open yet, which was kinda weird since it was about 10:05 am and the place was supposed to open at 10am. So I waited for about another 20 minutes, but they still did not open so I had to take off and pack for my trip home. So I took off and when I got home I called the lab to tell them that I could not get the worms. Then I quickly packed and had a little lunch. After that I typed out how to feed my fish so that steph would know. I left my apartment at about 12pm to get to the airport. It took about an hour/ hour and a half to get the actual terminal. I sat down and waited for a bit and then stood in line for boarding. But the damn plane was like half an hour late, which would be a reaccuring theme in my return flight. But I will get to that later...so fast forwarding to when I got home I talked with my mom and dad for a few hours then headed off to bed.

Saturday (Oct. 9th)This was mikey's game day. I woke up early so we could drive to monterey park and watch mikey play. It gets kind of complicated here so I will just fast forward to when I saw my grandma. She was pretty surprised to see me (which is what it was supposed to be, only my mom and dad knew I was heading down). Then I saw my aunt, and she was surprised to see me. Finally Kevin and Andy saw me a few minutes later and Kevin did a triple take to make sure it was me. So fast forwarding to game time I got to yell at mikey and he was very much shocked to see me. I yelled "hey krause!" and he turned around and had a huge smile. I could not really see he face, but I saw his mouth piece very clearly. So fast forwarding some more, schurr won 32-12 I believe, and in the middle some where I saw my asian grandma and my other aunt. So some more fast forwarding, I went back to my grandma's house and I got to see my grandpa. He was pretty shocked to see me. I think he and mikey were the most shocked. I talked with him for a bit, and when I left I told him to get better. After that we went out to eat with my uncle, good stuff. Fast forwarding again, we got home and my brothers and I played some video games for a while, fun was had by all.

Sunday (Oct. 10th) This was probably one of the more memorable times I had been down home due to this day. I went out to the backyard with mikey to take some football pics. After the pics I started to throw the football around with mikey. Then Kevin got involved, then it was finally me, mikey, kevin, andy, and my dad all playing no rules football...it was really no rules...there was not even any scoring. After kevin took a hike to the face (which he caught with his hands and face) we moved to the front yard and played there for a long while.

Monday (Oct. 11th) I was finally dropped off at the airport at about 4:30 in the morning. I was the third person in line...and to my shock the flight was full. Now here is the thing that pissed me off. The plane was already sitting there at 5am, but they did not start to board passengers until 6am when the flight was supposed to depart at 6:15am. So we eventually departed at 6:30am since the whole plane had to be loaded. When I finally landed in Sacramento I had to wait another 45 minutes for the damn airporter. When he finally got to pick me up he said that he "had to get air in the tires"...that is such bull. I dont think I am going to be taking the airporter any more. I had to miss one of my classes because of the not only late flight, but the late ride back to davis...that guy got no tip.

Well the rest of last had nothing exciting happen. Thursday of last week all of davis was covered in smoke...which I did not know until later in the day, I thought in the morning it was overcast. I felt kind of short of breath after biking back home and I had a sore throat. Friday when I woke up my stomach was hurting like hell and I was coughing and hacking and I vomited a bit. I am not too sure if it was the smoke and all the crap I enhaled, but I got over it later in the day. I had to miss class and work this day too, which sucked. Oh, I also bought paper mario earlier in the week. It is a great game, which is one of the reasons I have not been typing blogs since I have been playing. So yesterday steph and I went out and did a bunch of stuff...nothing exciting. Steph went to best buy and got some money back from a cd that she bought a couple weeks ago that went on sale. I also bought con air and the whole naked gun seires...I could not resist. So today steph, me and tamo went to capitol aquarium and I bought some new fish. After steph and I went to In n Out, it was good eating. Steph also bought a new fella (betta) at petco. It's also finally raining. The first good rain of the season. Okay, I guess I should probably get to work. leights.

Well today was kind of an interesting day. I went to my graduate seminar and I found out that one of the grad students from Dr. Wainwrights lab was in there so I chatted with him. When I was talking to him he asked me what I wanted to do after getting my BS. I told him that I want to go to grad school and he asked where. So I said that I was looking at scripps and ucsb. Then what he asked me after that did not really sink in until after the conversation. He asked "well what if UC Davis were to make you an offer to get into grad school?" I of course said that I would most likely accept, but after a few minutes I was like "wait, why did he ask that?" Does he know something that I don't? I dunno, maybe I am just thinking about it too much, but it was kind of a weird question.

In an unrelated note, books and school stuffs is going to be the most expensive ever this quarter. so if the giver of life can give me a call I would like to talk to her about it. Oh, and I also got the insurance thing taken care of. It is going to be mailed out this friday. Okay, thats all for now, its sleepy time.

You know I have never considered myself one of those people who is easliy stressed out. I like to take it easy, and not worry about the small stuff. But I am freaken stressing out already and school has not even settled in yet. I am going crazy, I have to go to this class, then go to this class, then go to this discussion, then go to work, then go home and do my reading and homework the next day, and study for the quizzes in lab...I will actually be amazed if I survive this quarter. going INsAnEEE....

so I guess Dr. Wainwright is keeping me to feed his fish still, I guess he does not want to have to put up the add and fill the position once I leave. In addition to feeding his fish he said something about taking care of some of the fish in the lobby of storer in the salt water tanks. Well at least that is what I thought he was talking about, but I could be wrong. I guess I am going to have a meeting with him later on this week to talk about this. So I guess I will be working two jobs during the school year too. Go figure. I would also like to say GO DODGERS! I could not watch the whole game the other day when the dodgers clinched it, but I did go online and buy the game for $4 so I can always have it. I have not watched the grand slam by finley yet, but I cant wait. I am having some problems with it right now and I am trying to get it taken care of. I guess I will have to call again today. I am at school right now killing an hour in between my class and my lab, I will probably do this every week. I hate having spaced out classes. Well I wouldnt mind if the gap was like 3 hours, but it is only one hour, and that is not enough time to do anything. I guess it will give me sometime to read and study, whatever the hell that is. Oh, there is an area at greystone that has a hose for those who want to wash their car, so I am going to take a trip down there later today with tamo and we are gong to both wash our vehicular units. I think steph is going to get her car washed too.

switching gears once again, I am looking forward to the lab. During the course of the quarter I'll get to dissect a lamprey, a shark, a cat, and a salamander (its supposed to be a pretty sizeable one.) Also my fish class is quite interesting although it seems like it will be a lot of work. There are field trips that I get to go on. My other two classes, history and ecology, do not seem to be that great, especially history. Bah, oh well. Okay class time gotta go. Leights.

Click here to see George (my clown knife) eat. If you are wondering that feeder is about an inch long, it was a smaller one for him, but that gives you a scaling factor. Oh, it helps if you have some sound so you can appreciate the music I put on it. If it doesn't work tell me. Okay, sleepy time now.

Well I said that I would update this thing, so I guess I should. Today was the first day of school (or yesterday if you are picky) and it was not the greatest. I am not too sure if I will like the history class that I am taking and my ecology class is going to suck because there is homework. The unfortunate matter is that I have to take these two classes to finish up my requirements. So tomorrow I have class at eight in the morn, but it is a fish class so I hope that it will be good. After all it is one of my "for fun" classes. I have already bought my books for history, and they cost $85. I still have to buy the notes for the class, but I dont know how much they will cost. Now here is the painful part for my mom and dads wallets. The book that I need for my fish class cost $100 by itself. And that is way expensive. I cant find it any where for cheaper than that, but I guess since it is a fish class I cant pass up buying the book. I will also hopefully use the same book next quarter for another class that I am taking.

So anyway, steph and I went to cache creek casino today, and it was pretty fun, well except for the all the smoking that was going on. I got a pretty nast sore throat sitting in that smokey place, and steph did not feel too well either. I did pretty well considering steph and I split my spare change. I turned out pretty nice as I won $37.50 (750 nickels). I guess gambling is a pretty good way to turn your spare change into cash...its better than counting it out and taking it to the bank even though that is safer...but who likes to live pefectly safe anyway. After the casino steph and I headed over to IHOP for dinner. She had the pumpking pancakes that they have there, they are new, and I had the all you can eat popcorn shrimp. I had 3 baskets. I think mikey would be able to clean out that place.

Speaking of mikey, I hear that he is doing pretty well in football. The team is undefeated so far, and lets hope it will stay that way *knocks on wood*. I wish I could head down home and see him play in his first season, but I guess it was not in the cards. Damn school and work. Thats okay I guess though, I imagine that I will be able to head down some other time and watch him play.

Okay well I should be heading off to bed since I have to get up in a few hours. Oh, one more thing, Tamo used his digital camera to film george eating. I plan on editing the video and posting it on here so stay tuned. Leights.
