This is pretty cool. Oh yeah, thats right assitant IV. I am moving up in the world...and boy am I tired. I am not working 40 hrs a week, but it is pretty close. I cannot wait until I go home in less than a week. I am getting all giddy just thinking about it. I hope it will be as fun as I am hoping. I might bring my nintendo down with bubble bobble and contra so my dad and I can play some. Hopefully it will bring back memories of Roland Heights and burning out a couple NES systems. I don't really have much to talk about, nothing much has been happening, thats why I have not typed a blog in a while. My days are pretty simple. Wake up, bike to school, feed fish, bike to other job, sort inverts, bike home, eat dinner, shower, watch conan, and sleep...then repeat. I converted some of dr wainwrights tanks into saltwater, it took a lot more salt than I expected. Its amazing how much salt you can dissolve in water. Thats about all for now. If I think of anything else I will be sure to put it up, but for now this is it. leights.

Arnold is freaken hilarious, he called democrats in Sacramento girlie men...hahaha, and then the stupid democrats complain that it is offensive to homosexuals and women. What a bunch of morons. They are way too sensitive. I think society should just go out and get a sense of humor and stop being such a bunch of bitches...always whining and complaining about something. Geez, why don't you go out and complain about something that is worth being complained about. Stop worrying about arnold calling you girlie men. haha, that is so funny. I give arnold mad props for that.

on a separate note work has been good. I should be getting a decent size pay check on the 28th of this month. Also my boss has invited me to come go out into the field again...I was affraid that I did not do that great a job, but he wants me to go again, so I guess I did a decent job. He, and another guy at work, said that I should get rookie of the year awards. Also the insurance for my new truck will not cost as much as I had, or my mom for that matter, had expected. Its only going to cost 50/month instead of the 66 that was recently quoted. So that saves me a rather large chunk of money. Um...I think that is all for now, I can't wait to go home. oh, my linkin park tickets are up to $51 now, and the bidding is almost done. Okay, its time for leno, leights.

I have finally put the tickets my mom gave to me to sell on Ebay. Click here if you care to see how it is doing. I posted it yesterday and it already has one bid of $25 on it. I hope it goes up since it is my birthday present...well the cash for however much it sells for is my birthday present.

So my mom is complaining that I have not typed a blog in a while, and she is right...but I have been busy as of late. I guess I'll start on thursday. Well as of last thursday I am the owner of a 1984 toyota long bed truck, complements of stephs mom and dad. THANK YOU MR. and MRS. CHAN. It took me about 2 hours at the DMV to get the car transferred to me...then I had to pay them $15. I don't get it, I wait for two hours then I pay them...they should be paying me for wasting my time in their long ass line. And the thing that pisses me off is that they assign numbers, but they dont even really use them. First they see if anybody needs to have a drivers license/id card taken care of. This for some reason takes precedent over everyone else. For instance in my time waiting there were two people who needed something done with their permit or license, and they had to wait only 15 minutes at most...what a damn rip...ok then after that it was people who needed something with registration. For this they called out the numbers though...however if you did not have to renew registration then you had to wait...yet another way for the DMV to screw you over...so when I finally got up the guy was like "haha, you were waiting here since before I went to lunch, and now I am helping you after my lunch" Oh yeah, I was laughing my ass off that I had to wait 2 hours for your lazy ass to get back to your damn booth to help me. Then what pisses me off more is that I was prepared...this means that my problem was solved in 5 minutes since I had all the forms filled out, as opposed to all the people in front of me who needed to fill out their forms...bah, stupid DMV, and they wonder why they have a bad rep.

Okay, onto friday: friday I woke up at 4 am to go on the field excursion. It was tiring, but a great experience nonetheless. So I departed from davis at about 4:30 am got to Suisun Marsh (in the upper San Francisco Estuary) at about 5 am (it seemed, it could have been 5:15 am) But we got the boat in the water...the boat was not some deluxe science vessel, it was a simple boat...possibly about 15ft long with a simple outboard motor. But make no mistakes that boat hauled ass. We took some samples at several different locations. These samples included planktonic samples and core samples. We also checked the water conditions for some things such as dissolved oxygen, salinity, turbidity, and what not. We also took chloroplast samples from the water. We finished at about 6:15 pm...I was soooooooo friggin tired. Oh, I got to drive the boat...in fact I was controlling it for about 35% of the time...I got to take the boat to 45 mph, but I was affraid of flipping it over so I did not go much higher than that. Robert and Joe drove it at about 65 mph which is pretty intense going over the water. Like I said I was tired, but at least I got paid for it. $8.75 an hour. so I made a bit over $100 in one day. not too shabby. If you can't tell I am still surprised that I am getting paid so much per hour. Oh, yeah I still also get paid to feed dr. wainwrights fish. that gives me $35/wk so I should be okay for any bills if I keep this up. I am not going to be making as much if I was working at DE but the experience that I am getting here right now is something that I would never get working in a paint factory.

Saturday was fun. Steph and I went to go see Anchorman, and it was pretty damn hilarious. I recommend seeing it if you like will ferrell. It is kind of a ridiculous movie like dodgeball (conincidently it has great cameo's...some of them from dodgeball). After that I spent most of the time trying to recover from friday...oh, I forgot to mention that I bought some roast beef for my sandwhich...it was good stuff. it was a bit pricy...but oh so worth it.

sunday steph and I went into sacramento. She wanted to go shopping, and I wanted to go to best buy...I had not been there in a long while. I bought 3 movies for $20 and the new slipknot cd...I also renewed my rewards card...I figured it was okay since it costs $10 to renew, but I made $15 back on it...thats a profit of $5 my friend...then at the end of summer if I have some money saved up I am hoping to buy a new TV...then I can used my rewards card...and my new truck to haul it back to davis YES! I think this is one of the best summers on record for me when it comes to how well things are coming together. Oh, I also bought some tiger barbs for gary's tank since he has eaten 4 danios now, I only have one left.

some miscellaneous things:

After I sell the tickets for the concert on ebay I will have made over $100 just from selling things...not too shabby if I don's say so myself.

also I finally get to go home at the end of this month. I fly home the 29th and then I am going to be driving back up on august 1st.

thats all for now...its almost dinner time...leights.

I have nothing against old folks, but hereis yet another reason why we should have laws that do not allow people over a certain age to continue to drive. Even though when you think about it, the guy should not have been crossing the street in the first place since the signal was turning red.

Tuesday, July 06, 2004
Well it has finally paid off...I got a job...The guy said that I can work as little or as much as I would like, and that he would prefer that I work as much as possible...this is GREAT! Then to top it all off since I have previous experience he is going to start me at $8.75/hour instead of $7.50. Holly crap I am happy. I am going to be an Assistant IV now...well and an Assistant II for Dr. Wainwrights lab, but wow...I am all giddy like a school girl. Also this friday I will probably be heading off to San Francisco to be doing some field work and I get paid for that too! he said maybe for as much as 12 hours of work...in one day...just doing stuff that I love to do...catch fish and inverts! So I have already told steph and my mom, and my mom will tell my dad...but wow...I am going to take steph out to dinner today to celebrate...nothing too fancy, probably hunan...W00T!

I don't think mikey could take this guy ...well...maybe if they had all the time they wanted to eat...but not in 12 minutes.

my props go out to my clown knife george who made a spectacular catch on a feeder gold fish just right now...george went into position and was about to pounce, then he strikes...but about mid stike the feeder takes off, but george changes the direction of his strike and catches him easily....it was great! oh, by the way george is about 7 inches now and charlies is about 8. Bruce, my bala shark, is about 5 now...they are getting to be quite sizeable...I am debating if I want to give george another feeder, I'll have to survey his belly size..

oh and one more thing the guy who won my tool salival set had a zero for his feedback...but I thought at first it was zero because he never won...as it turns out he had a zero from 2 positive feedbacks and 2 negatives...so I was really worried about getting my money, but he paid very quickly, so now I get to ship out my second package. I am going to ship this one media mail though, since it is cheaper, and also since PayPal and eBay are getting a bigger chunk of my money. From now on I am going to aim my shipping fees at trying to cover for not only shipping, but also fees and what not. So far it has, but I am going to make an effort to do it now.

ok, now I am going...probably to shower...leights.

Gagne's streak ended!?!?!? stupid d-backs...at least the dodgers won...but common now...

well it appears as if emailing the 4 doctors has paid off. One doctor passed my email onto another doctor who is now offering me a job. Its 20-40 hours/wk at 7.50-8.75/hr. Not to shabby if I dont say so myself. I replied to him already asking for more details and telling him if he needs any more info on just to request it. So now I am quite relieved because money for me is kinda tight since I have to pay rent, gas/power (by myself), half the dsl/phone, and help my mom out with summer school. If I am able to work 30 hrs/wk at 7.50/hr I would get about 175/wk plus about 30/wk from dr wainwright...so I'd get about $800/month I hope which would be great. okay, well all this money talk is gettin me sleepy, imma take a victory nap. leights.

well, I just emailed 4 random doctors that I found online that deal with fish here at UCD about any jobs that they may have open. I also asked them if they don't have a job for me if they know anyone else that does. Hopefully this proves to be fruitful.

I know that the US wanted something tall to replace the WTC, but if they build it to 1,776 feet its not going to be the tallest...by far...apparently they are building some massive building inDubai which is in the United Arab Emirates. Go ahead and click the link. That thing is going to be one tall mofo. If you want to read about the freedom tower click here.

I was watching the Pepsi 500 yesterday...well like the last 10 minutes of it...and I heard that if Jeff Gordon won all of america will get a free pepsi edge...so here it is.FREE Pepsi EDGE If you want to get it you need to sign up for it before 9pm today or else the offer is gone.

Man, I am tired...I have biked to school the last 3 days...its about 3 miles each way and my ass is killing me. Also on friday I had to do some extra biking...first I rode my bike to school (to life sciences addition) for advising...then to Petcetera in Downtown to pick up some more food for Dr. Wainwrights fish, then to Hutchinson where I dropped off the worms, but could not feed the fish yet because they were filming in the lab, so I rode over to Academic surge to turn my keys in (I will be getting my check of $20 from them in a couple weeks, what a jip), then I rode back to Hutch to feed the fish, then I finally got to ride home. Luckily today was not that bad. But I had to stop off at the post office to mail out my first eBay package. It cost 2 bucks to mail, so that means that I got 2 bucks from shipping...but after eBay and PayPal fees I probably only get 1 dollar from shipping...thats okay though. Okay, imma go check mail to see if I got anything good. leights.

well, I have been taking care of Alex's fish...and apparently I have been too good a job...if there is such a thing...anyway...I got his fish to breed in the tank and now have about 30 little teeeeeenie fish swimming on the bottom. I imagine this number will decrease...but hopefully not to zero.

on an unrelated note, I went to see an advisor today and she said that it looks good for me to graduate in the spring, so I am really happy about that news. it kinda makes me all giddy thinking about it. me? graduate? I guess so.

also, I will be shipping out my first ebay order tomorrow. I finally received payment and will ship out tomorrow...probably after I feed Dr. Wainwrights fish. I am probably going to put on more games...maybe Dr. Mario for N64 and Forsaken, also for N64. I am probably going to start selling the nes games soon. Whew...I am busy when it comes to eBay.

Continuing on...I have not found a job yet. I asked the advisor and she said that if she heard anything that she would notify me. So that still leaves me up a creek without a paddle. I look for jobs everyday on the school listing, but I am usually not qualified for any of em...mainly because I am not either A) a plant bio guy, B)a computer engineer type, or C)I am not the preselect (which I think is really stupid. why are you posting on the jobs site if there is already somebody that you have in mind)

um...I think that is all for now. I am considering rearranging the living room just for kicks, but I have to tame the mess in my room first. Okay, Imma get back to cleaning...leights.
